Major(s):

I am a third year Sociology major looking to pursue a MSW/JD in Forensic Psychology and enter the criminal justice system. I love going to concerts, air-drumming around campus, and binge watching my favorite TV shows.

Academic year working for Career Services?:

Fall 2017 to Spring 2018

How did you choose your major? Minor?:

I watch a lot of Law & Order: SVU, Mindhunters, and documentaries based on serial killers and unsolved murders. Since there is no forensic psychology degree, I knew sociology could still give me a cognitive/law perspective.

Describe the different types of internship or job experiences that you have been involved with?:

I am Editor in Chief for music publication The Plug Society, a Michael D. Young intern, and I was an intern for Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia.

Which student organizations are you currently involved with?:

A.S. Program Board, Promise Scholar Program, Pacific Islander Student Association, and Sigma Alpha Pi.

What is your current career goal?:

I want to either work in a department like the CIA or FBI, or within a correctional facility or court system.

What one resource would you recommend to students coming to Career Services?:

The "Get Experience" page on Handshake! It has a number of resources as to how to get experience in a variety of fields.

What career advice would you give to UCSB students that you wish you knew about earlier on?:

It's okay if you don't have it all figured out, sometimes that is the point.
