The hiring outlook for college graduates continues to improve as employers plan to hire more graduates from the Class of 2016 for their U.S. operations than they did from the Class of 2015.
Choosing a career is a process students need to go through—and they go through the stages of this process at different rates of speed. You can assist and support your child in each of these stages. But what can—or should—you do? Here's your own career planning timetable.
Career Services is part of UCSB's Division of Student Affairs. On their website, they collect information from every aspect of UCSB life, academic and social, to present to you: "As a parent or family member of a UCSB student, you are a part of Gaucho Parents. Our Gaucho Parents Web site, two newsletters, the UCSB Parent Handbook, and staff members are excellent resources for you to use as you learn about UCSB.
Your user name and password allows you to browse part-time and full-time jobs by job functional areas. You can also preview upcoming company campus interviews (primarily in the fall and winter quarters), watch for information sessions presented on campus by our employers, store your resumes/cover letters as you apply for jobs, and track your internship progress. Hours: When school is in session, our hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. During the lunch hour, our counseling office are closed, but we do have student and staff employees in the Career Resource Room. We can be reached at (805) 893-4412. Attend one of our Job Launch workshops at Career Services for help on resume and cover letter writing. Printed workshop schedules are available at the beginning of each quarter and on our website. You can also drop-in on a counselor at the Career Resource Room and have them review your resume/cover letter. Drop-in hours at the CRR are 11am to 4:00pm daily.
