My name is Carol Huang and I am a Career Counselor who strives to be both innovative and inclusive. I obtained my masters degree in Student Affairs Administration from Michigan State University and bachelors degree in Psychology and Sociology from...UC Santa Barbara! I loved UCSB so much that I came back to support our Gaucho family. I specialize in working with students interested in the fields of Education & Human Services. I also serve as the liaison to the Office of International Students & Scholars.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I enjoy helping students discover their passions, find meaningful experiences, plan their career paths, tell their stories, and connect them with opportunities!
What is your favorite place on campus? Explain why.
I lived at the Library when I was a Gaucho. As an undergrad, I studied between classes, did group projects, hung out with friends, had meetings with student organizations, and even had lunch & dinner in the library. And who could forget the midterms and finals all-nighters (don’t do that…)!
If you could go back and give yourself one tip of advice as a college undergrad, what would it be?
Explore as many interests as you can. Engage in deep learning experiences. Feed your curiosity and don’t be afraid of challenges. Take advantage of all the resources that are available (there's a lot!). Be your awesome self. You belong here and you are capable of greatness (yes, sometimes I sound like a Ted Talk or cheesy quote.)
P.S.: Folks are trying to convince me that my back-up career should be a comedian (but that can be my 6th back-up career following all the other dreams I have for myself.)
What can we talk about?
Feel free to ask me about how to.....design a career path, write an effective resume, find opportunities, make the most of UCSB...and much more! I look forward to meeting you.
